Hello everyone,
as promised last week during my presentation, I have cleaned up the basic demo about skinning a button based on Scalenine demo.

What is Gumbo? Is it spicy? What kind of event a shrimp dispatch? Is it possible to mix it with cheese and fondue?

Gumbo definition (from wikipedia): ”Gumbo is a stew or soup originating in Louisiana, and found across the Gulf Coast of the United States and into the U.S. South. It consists primarily of a strong stock, meat and/or shellfish, a thickener, and the vegetable “holy trinity” of celery, bell peppers and onion. ”

Thierry Bertossa and I are giving a presentation on Flex 4 (code named Gumbo) at the Adobe User Group Geneva tonight.
This presentation is an introduction to Flex 4 which should make you understand what conceptual approach will be the roots of Flex 4 and should help you getting started with it.

Thierry will start about what’s new in Gumbo and what significant changes and improvements are to come.
I will concentrate on the part “Design In  Mind” which is one of the main conceptual objectives of Flex 4 (Gumbo) as described by Adobe.

I’d like to thank everybody who attended my presentation on Actionscript 3D APIS a few weeks ago at the Adobe User Group Geneva. The subject is vast and I suggest a second presentation including content I had not time to cover and enhanced with hands on codes. Please post any suggestion or particular interest so I can integrate them.

Pour ceux qui ne seraient pas encore au courant, Adobe a mis en ligne sur son lab les beta de Dreamweaver, Fireworks et Soundbooth. Toutefois, attention! Il faut déjà être détenteur d’une l’icence afin de pouvoir les tester.

Mardi 1er Avril nous tiendrons le meeting pour la période de Mars / Avril. Le rendez-vous est fixé un peu plus tard que d’habitude: 19h30 au Nomades [map] (encore merci à Haim et à l’équipe des ateliers Nomades, de nous accueillir!).

Ahmet (moi) fera une présentation sur la Search Engines Optimization en générale avec une petite digression sur la SEO appliqué à Flash.

Après les présentations je propose une pizza (oui pas une fondue… promis!), s’il vous plaît réservez à l’avance (par mail à hello AT augg DOT ch) et annoncez vous aussi à l’avance si vous ne prenez pas le même menu que tout le monde histoire d’éviter des discussion ennuyeuse

C’est officiel ! Mike Chamber et Lee Brimelow viendront nous visiter pendant notre séance AUGG de novembre (qui sera en plus l’anniversaire d’un an de l’AUGG).

Genève sera la dernière ville à être visitée, donc on va tout faire pour être à la hauteur de l’événement.

Flash Platform Update Mike Chambers will give an overview of the Flash Platform, and talk about some of the latest news and developers around the Flash Player Adobe AIR and open source Flex. Mike will also discuss how Adobe’s technologies fit within the larger Rich Internet Application (RIA) space.

Adobe AIR for Interactive Designers Lee Brimelow Adobe AIR allows web developers to extend their reach onto the desktop using technologies like Flash, Flex, HTML, and JavaScript. While this opens up a whole new world for developers, it also presents new opportunities and challenges for visual and interactive designers.
